Get Wet for a Good Cause! Volunteer with RAIN on the Rogue River 💦
Join us as we partner with the Rogue Aquatic Invasives Network (RAIN) for a hands-on day of community service and river fun as we work together to remove invasive water plants—ludwigia and parrotfeather—from a beautiful slough just upstream of Whitehorse County Park.
💧 What to Expect:
We’ll spend the morning wading through water (sometimes waist- or chest-deep) to pull aquatic weeds. You’ll get a demo and support from experienced RAIN partners before jumping in. In the afternoon, we’ll celebrate our hard work with a scenic river float!
🗓️ Schedule:
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Invasive plant removal with a live demo and support from RAIN partners.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch and networking (lunch is provided, thanks to the Oregon Invasive Species Council!)
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Optional celebratory float from Whitehorse to Griffin County Park. Bring your own kayak or raft, and coordinate your own shuttle if possible—limited space may be available in RAIN partner vehicles.
🎒 What to Bring:
Water bottle(s)
Hat and sunscreen
Change of clothes
Close-toed water shoes
Personal flotation device (PFD) — required if you plan to go into deeper water or float the river
🌊 Why Join?
You’ll make a real impact for native river species, meet fellow river lovers, and enjoy a refreshing float on one of the Rogue’s most scenic stretches.
