Volunteer Social Hour

Vol Social Hour.png

Volunteering makes people happy for so many reasons: it's being part of something bigger than yourself, it provides opportunities to get involved with your community, and it's an avenue for meeting new people!

Please join Rogue Riverkeeper and KS Wild for a social hour to learn more about opportunities to volunteer on behalf of the wild places and creatures that can't speak for themselves. We will have a brief presentation on volunteer opportunities and upcoming events, and then open it up for networking and Q&A. Snacks provided and drinks available for purchase.

Sign up for one of two social hours in the Rogue Valley:

Salem Public Hearing to Stop Jordan Cove LNG

Deb Evans speaks to DEQ_DSC9180 (1) (2).jpg

Attend the Department of State Lands public hearing to stop the Jordan Cove LNG export terminal and Pacific Connector fracked gas pipeline in Salem. This is the chance for community members outside of South Oregon to speak out against this project.

If built, the Jordan Cove LNG project would harm nearly 500 waterways (100,000+ public drinking water), seize property from private landowners through eminent domain, create a major safety and public health hazards, impact Tribal territories, cultural resources, and burial grounds, and become the largest source of climate pollution in the state.

The Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) will hear from the public about whether Jordan Cove's Removal-Fill permit should be denied or approved. This is one of the state permits that, if denied, would stop the Jordan Cove LNG even if the Federal Government approves the project.

We need to show huge turn out to these important hearings! We hope you can make it.

No Pipeline Hearing Recruitment Phonebank

No LNG Sign Rally on the River.jpg

The Department of State Lands, a state agency that can deny permits on the pipeline project, has scheduled hearings on "Removal-fill' permit applications for Jordan Cove during first week of January. These permit hearings come at a critical time in the pipeline fight. We need to push extra hard on state agencies and Governor Kate Brown to uphold our state environmental laws by denying pipeline permits once and for all!

To demonstrate our opposition to this project, we need to mobilize hundreds of people to write comments and attend public hearings. Can you help with recruitment phone banks to let our communities know about the hearings so we can have record turnout?

Snacks and drinks will be provided. Thanks for signing up to help out during this critical time!
